MOSAIC FUN....

I have finally finished this mosaic DAISY POT which is a very late house warming present for good friends of mine. Thought that I'd stick with a simple design as I knew that I wouldn't have enough time to do something more intricate. I had of course forgotten that even a simple mosaic design can take AGES, especially when you have to steal the odd hour here and there at the weekend, not always an easy task. I really love to mosaic and am really inspired by the summer as those of you who have seen my mosaics may be able to tell as they are nearly all flower designs. I love how the picture comes to life once the piece has been grouted. Definitely going to do a few more bits over the summer.

While I was busy making the pot, Kalem asked if he could have a go too. Now I normally so NO as I work with glass and in my experience glass and children do not mix well!!!! Anyway he was very insistent and I thought why not, so I gave him a collection of pieces of glass that had already been either cut of broken and he got to work.

He really enjoyed himself and here is his finished item. It is a skull and cross bone (boys will be boys and all that..), you may need to use your imagination a little bit, but if you look carefully you can definitely make it out. Not bad for a first attempt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course now Talia wants to have a go, but I think I may need to put her off for a wee while yet.....

Love the pot - it's really beautiful!

Thanks so much for your comment on my post re leaving. I know that they will love it and I am just keeping that picture of them on the beach in my head to get me through, but like you say it just breaks my heart to see Maia upset, and because of something we've decided! Oh the joy of being a parent. Lots of things recently have really made me feel for her and I guess that's a new stage we're entering and you just have to learn to deal with it. Cheers xxxx

Fabulous!

Your fairy is called Tangle Saturnwand
She is a trouble maker.
She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.
She is only seen when the seer holds a four-leafed clover.
She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has delicate pale pink wings like a cicada.
